a day in Amsterdam Clip1. So now you can see why we buy a new bike every year, there are more bikes then people in Holland, no lie.2nd clip:Starts with the Westertoren church build in 1620, moving along you see the line of tourist lining up to see the house where Anne Frank did hide in WW2, the line can go around the church sometimes, this is 18:00 H. there is a museum and next to it the actual house. 3rd clip:De Dam-square, at the left the national monument, every year on 4 may we remember the people who died for our freedom in worldwar2 the Queen is there. speeches and 10 minutes of silence. to the right in the middle Madam Tussaud wax museum, I think the one and only RnR hero we ever had Herman Brood is there in wax(never been there..) more to the right: the National palace official a city hall in 1605, since 1808 a palace, even Napoleon used it, and he renamed the Damsquare, napoleon square...funny guy.The royals live mainly in Den Haag now, but when royals visit they welcome them there. further to the right...the New church first used in1408, Queen Beatrix and in 2002 Prince Willem Alexander married there. and finally the most important building the coffee company ! Now for all who wanted to see the red light district or the coffee(weed-mushrooms) shops? sorry ran out of film:)

  • There are more bikes in the canals of Amsterdam than in the rest of the Netherlands. There are more bikes in the Dutch canals than there are grains of sand on the beach. There are more bikes stolen in Holland than there are canals to put them in. There are 16 million bicycles in Holland and most of them are in the canals and stolen - ie most bikes that are stolen then go to the canal , in a huge recycling operation upon which the Dutch economy is based: I thought theDutch economy was based on...

  • OK That's it. I know I started the joke about the bikes in the info section. But when you come to Holland by bike? yours I personally throw in there in a second...maybe then...you can make it to the second clip about those churches or Anne Franks house.....

  • Thank you for sharing this with me...I enjoyed it!

  • You're welcome... well it's just a simple clip. a bit choppy filming, and there is so much more to see in Amsterdam.

  • Ah, Ah,typisch Nederlands alle fietsen in de water geworpen. Oh,yeah typical Dutch don't know where to put my bike --- I'll put it in the canal & later i can watch it being fished out. I thought thsy called the coffee houses "tea houses not tobe confused with other substances. Brownies laced with substances & whipped cream, well smiley whatever next. !!!Good quality filming and interesting aspects of Amsterdam but where is "Broodje van Kootje" that is the ultimate, and Paradiso? bestaat het nog

  • What Dil? YOU put it in the canal? no you park it alongside the canal and when there's no more space? we make space. And off course a coffee shop is called coffee shop....Broodje van Kootje and rock temple Paradiso are still there...there's only so much you can film:)

  • This one is by FAR, my favorite! And I loved how you gave descriptions in the "more info." section. Better than a History class. And those BIKES!!! OMG!!! Are you kidding me?

Does that coffee shop offer those coffee-like drinks, that don't really taste like coffee, but have loads of sugar, whipped cream and chocolate? If so, I'm there! Woohoo!

  • Thanks for the tour and the info. Love Amsterdam! My favourite city.

  • What, there are churches on there and who is Anne frank ? I never got past the bikes and canal clearance, I dragged the mouse on the bar and played it over again, I did see one bike that I liked, do they untwist the wheels too ?

  • WW, you might get more than you bargained for going into a Dutch coffee shop, but i think you'd prefera bruin cafe than anything & maybe oliebollen with i think -- profitieere ? ask 17 he knows this Dutch stuff

  • There's no space in Amsterdam that's why the bikes are parked in the canal because then the Dutch don't need to pay for parking, well they don't anyway. I don't know where i read that but I heard in Holland they started calling them "tea houses " so you know what you're buying. I realise you can't film everything , that was really stupid of me!! I've seen many uni cycles in Amsterdam, i.e. one wheel chained to a lamppost, maar ik ben geen pispaaltje en ik neem geen fiets naar Amsterdam.
