@sodlo Spanish settler, mulatto and black in DR all became cattle rancher, in Haiti you have a plantation slavery. very different from the black slave who ride a horse and it master ride the horse as well, slavery in Haiti was much different where the master was still in the horse and the slave was still working the land. this is why DR is so mix, white master took black wife, white woman took black husband, this did not happened in Haiti. this is why we say we are of Spanish decent.

@sodlo Slavery was not in force by teh time of the Haitian occupation b/c sugar plantations were transferred to Brazil! Blacks and Mulatoos (who made up the majority) were needed to be part of the military and the Church. Haitians during their occupation made it official. We did NOT want u in our country the whole island is really ours. You came with the French in the 1500s.

@xXjohi360Xx LOL are you kidding me? they count only those that are wealthy, but the mulatto population is way beyond 5%. I lived in the south, where my mum is from, when i was young and my mother and her family (in the father side) are white-looking and so are many families in Jacmel. also in the south part of the Haiti, in Fond-des_Blanc (Place-of_Whites), those people are white-looking, so are the people in Cote-de-Fer and so on.

The whites live in the south, the real blacks live in the North and in the west where i'm from is the mixture of both. By the west i mean Port-Au-Prince
