The first reach stacker I drove was a PPM from France , we had and they always kept breaking down. We had a ram collapse and fold in half crushing the cabin , luckily the driver got out ok. The Fantuzzi reach stackers were like driving a rolls Royce . We don't have them anymore , we have Hyster forklifts which lift 45 t , they have heaps of bugs from brand new . They are governed to 15 km/h loaded , even with an empty on , very frustrating .
hey i see what u mean wit the hysters we had a hyster reach stacker the engine blew 6 times so we sold it ogt a cvs ferrai reach stacker which is ok when it decides not to break down but my fav machine is the smv reach stacker it rarley breaks down and is a brill machine
The stacker here it looks very similar to ours is similar to stack approx 5 high max, at minimal extending it can lift a good 45 tons, when extending it will drop fast. But a good 5 to 10 ten tons is not on max reach is not to be taken lightly.
I hate the 6 cylinder cummins engine tho in the reach stackers of hyster. The tend to smoke allot (6500 hours use)
There slow, we use the 46tons stacker similar to the model here in the vid> (i work at BCT container terminal)
I find it handy but yet amazingly slow. But capeable of lifting 45ton.
What you see in the demo is not even that impressive empty 40vt container weighs about 5 ton.
I rather play with the 18 ton, container handlers (trucks) that stack 7 high, were the reachstacker cant even come. More fun is 4 moving 4 (!!) 20feet containers at once with the truck XD
It does better than the older cranes and I would say this machine can stack loads four or five high. the nice thing with it you can reach a container in the second row where as old type modals you couldn't do that.
Kalmar Reach Stackers were the best...
