@truthforamerica That statistic is thrown around a lot. What nobody says is that the top 1% also earns about 40% of the wealth. That being said, doesn't it make sense that they pay about 40% of the taxes. And the flip side of this is that the bottom 50% make about 1.5% of the wealth, so think about that when someone whines they aren't paying their fair share.

@TheDakota671 When you have politicians controlling the rest of society in a totalitarian manner you have communist look at Cuba, U.S.S.R., or China a few years before there communist government made the reforms to turn their backward communistic economy into a robust capitalistic economy as they did. Hopefully they could keep going in the rout of freedom and turn their government away fully from totalitarianist communist party.

This guy is great. Too bad our politicians do not have the common sense that he does.
-
Funny how this guy reffer to europe like one single country. Explainig the idea of socialism to some americans ,is similiar to telling passengers aboard an airplane that Once the fuel run out everybody goes down.

@Jwes77 Socialism isnt a system in which politicians control the rest of society, means of production, or resources. Socialism is a system in which the means of production and resources are democratically controled by the workers.

It's interesting that people actually think that corrupt people (politicians) can police other potentially corrupt groups (large businesses). Personally, I would put much more faith in a business person being honest than a politician.

Nicely put!

A "progressive" income tax is where you pay a higher percentage of your income in taxes as you make more money. For those that do not know, a progressive income tax is one of the ten planks of communism.
-
The top 1% pays 37% of the total taxes and the bottom 50% pays 3% of taxes.
That's because the bottom 50% (of the population, not the wealth) is destitute. The only reason they show up on the chart at all is because there are 100 million of them! Hmmm, so 100 million people managed to scrape together almost 10% as much as the multi-billionaires?! Sounds like the billionaires are getting off easy.

also, u're profoundly confused if u think socialism means the gov't will take your house and sell it to a condo developer. that's not socialism but corporatism - which is the system of government that exists today in the us. socialism is against corporate control of our gov't
Key topic not mentioned by Dave.
The powerful corporations screwing citizens. Dave has discussed "moral restraint", and how it was a major factor in the economic meltdown. He conveniently left out of his discussion if oversight could help safeguard against moral hazard.
Daves a smart guy, but his "ministry" will eventually have a scandal that will bring him down. Ironically it will involve money, and unethical activity.

You obviously are not bright enough to bring any intelligent counter argument against what Dave said. Another one of these "evil corporations" creeps. If we outlawed them all, then we could have the depression like unemployment that you would probably be ok with. By the way, a lot of corporations are formed by small businesses that are living out the American dream. Keep being one of the wealth envy class and you will not become successful yourself. It's too bad I'm subsidizing you.

@truthforamerica hey uploader (tries not to laugh)....I think you're the one that's not too bright. not bright enough to think critically for yourself.
yeah, the people you're subsidizing are poor people, the homeless, and welfare moms, not the CEO's of large corporations. you ignoramus.
maybe you should do a little objective (that's objective...can you do that?) research and see where our tax money is going, and how evenly it's distributed, and for whom it benefits.

@dunkafelic The top 1% of income earners pay 40% of the tax load so don't lecture me about distribution. Our tax money is going down a black hole that Obama makes bigger every day.
