'Wrestling for the soul of America.'

I grew up in the South and Midwest during the civil rights years and their aftermath. It challenged everything about my world and changed my perception of life. Not a single day passes where the lessons learned are not effecting my perceptions, my outlook, or my aspirations. What is right now comes from their paths, what is wrong is from where any of us have lost the way. It's on each of us to make it better for each other. Selflessness brings us into the better angels of our nature. This is my psalm of love to my heroes, the bravest of the brave.

The PBS series, EYES ON THE PRIZE, has become available again. To me, it is the single greatest and most relevent thing ever shown on television. Check it out and be heartened by the bittersweet struggle for the very soul of America.

Peace.

  • I made this video to protest hate itself and also to promote love. It must be remembered that the Civil Rights Movement was people of MANY varied hues, faiths, ages, and cultures coming together for the better good. They knew that the human race is the only race. ALL of those faces are honored here and because of them there are far more of us together now than ever.

  • Can anyone tell me whether this has been sung by Nina first or Cat Stevens?

  • @sayedkhalideshaq

It was written especially for Nina, who sang it first.
