New Day Rising is a 1985 album by the American punk band Hüsker Dü, released on SST Records. Though less sprawlingly ambitious than prior album Zen Arcade, New Day Rising in some ways, abandoned hardcore punk entirely and helped set the template for alternative rock for the next decade.

    Husker Du never became "commercially viable" because their sound was nearly a decade ahead of it's time...i.e. the "grunge" of the 90's. I've loved these guys since a punk friend of mine turned me onto them in High School in the mid-80's.
