This is a talk I went to at an autonomous vehicles conference at NIST, in Washington, DC, in 2008. The guy is talking about their autonomous vehicle during the final Grand Challenge, mostly focusing on the Velodyne LIDAR sensor data.

  • Complicated stuff this is...could this be controlled with an axon ?

  • @Trailtraveller It requires so much memory and processing you'd need a fairly powerful PC. =P

  • @palmisano

Such a powerful sensor, do you know any brand that much cheaper ?

I took a look at Velodyne LIDAR and that's way too expensive.

  • @gonzo110391 The cheaper you get, the fewer features you get. There are many out there, but none this powerful.

  • That's for the post. That sensor is amazing.

  • Oh the joys of digital driving. Fun stuff. However, if we do not burn up our atmosphere first (AGW), I think this will be a VERY interesting phase of human evolution. Thanks for the vid.
