  • Sorry, the Ascaso isn't inferior - it's just a different machine that requires a different (slightly) approach to making espresso. It's all about getting to know the machine and what it is capable of. I have three Silvias (different generations) in our lab here, as well as an Ascaso Uno and Duo, and they've all been head to head on several occasions. The Duo is capable of pulling great shots, on par with the Silvia, and sometimes surpassing it (the proverbial "god shot" moments).

  • our instructor says that the perfect shot should be 20 sec. - 25sec....

  • @framespeaker It doesn't make any difference. Either you know your stuff or you don't. If you don't, don't start teaching others in YT. Espresso, just like most anything else good in the world, deserves to be done correctly.

  • i talked with a complete coffee expert today, and it should take between 25 and 35 secs. Also You need to grind your coffee beans in different degrees depending on the humidity of the air. If it has been raining past few days grind it to bigger chunks and if it has been dry and hot grind it finely. This is just some of the advices for making great espresso

  • @bontyspass Try adjusting your grind finer, and/or tamping with more pressure. Check the roast date on your coffee to make sure it is fresh (within about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks old). Also, do not use preground coffee for espresso. It will never live up to what you want it to be. Ever. Your grinder should be of the conical or flat burr type as opposed to the "whirly blade" type. No other grinders can achieve the uniformity necessary for espresso brewing. Last but not least, buy a real espresso machine.

  • Amateurish.

  • I have a new Bugatti diva, can not get a crema at all fills up two shot glass's in 5 seconds just black coffee coming out way too fast .What am I doing wrong

  • Thank you for keeping it simple.

  • he delayed 10 seconds to start the machine... he burnt the coffee... and the 20 to 23 seconds should start counting the very moment he places the filter in its place... those shots delayed 36 seconds to be extracted...

  • @bendoc91 That's the issue I am having now, I am heading out to buy a good tamper, going to bring my filter basket with me to measure ;)
