The Ottawa Civil Liberties Association (CCLA) put on a public interest event, a panel, on the topic of: "Civil Rights and Liberties, Law Enforcement, Police Action and Police Misconduct", on December 04, 2011 at the Ottawa Main Branch Public Library.
The panel consisted of the following individuals:
General Counsel, CCLA, Nathalie Des Rosiers
Ottawa Police Services Board Chair, Eli El-Chantiry
Ottawa Police Chief, Vern White
A Civil Liberties Association- National Capital Region representative
A Carleton University professor - Darryl Davies
An Ottawa criminal lawyer - Blair Crew
Ottawa Police Chief Vern White answered John Akpata's questions (a second time, up close and personal) at the conclusion of the event.

A lot of people in the Ottawa police beat people up.
It goes unseen and they lie about it,they also make up stories like "this person was hitting my cruiser hood".The hood has dents in it,but what they say are lies.
They must be stopped as they prey on the most vulnerable like a pack of vultures.

He seems like a respectable fellow. I can't say I have any issues with him as chief here in Ottawa. Some of his constables though......
