@ devoutman- I beg to differ; Jesus often spoke to women as he did to men. He recognized their importance and used them in his ministry. He did not share your misogynistic point of view.

Just an FYI, I think someone really is taking attention away from the praise going on here.
But since we're on that topic, do you not realize we're talking about GOD the Son? Don't you think he knew where her husband was, don't you think he knew she was in an extra-marital affair? Do you think he was really concerned about societal norms? NO! If that were the case, he may not have taught at all! Jesus wanted her to fix it because her own husand was apprently ineffective.

Jesus respects the headship of a husband. He realized that he could not speak to a woman outside respect of her husband. Because she had the role of her husband in a hot mess, he could only honor them by the mention the role. This song supports this thought.
Then, why do we disrespect leading gender roles today? Imagine what order we often forfeit all because we do not respect certain roles. Everything has become so gray these days.
Do we even know what is a husband or wife anymore?

NO NO NO that was not what he was saying. This song is only a small piece of that story. He could not talk to her because he was Jewish and she was a Samriatian. Remember he told he he would give her water and she will never be thirsty again. He told her about husbands so that she would know that he was not a fluke, did he ask her to go get her husband so he could talk to him NO he didn't. Don't change God's word for your own benefit.
