This segment was 1 of 3 spots that I did for the show. The other 2 were about numbers and not fun to animate. When animating the boy and dog I did not worry about any shortcuts..but just enjoyed the drawing something that made me feel good at the time.I started in the business in canada working in small shops..so everything that was put on film had to be as good as possible in order to be used as part of a demo reel.I do not recall meeting Joe.I wish I had and animated more spots like this..

I think of this song occasionally when I spend time w/my dog.

This song goes through my head every time I pet my cat. Funny how Sesame street sticks in your head and we didn't get Sesame St. until I was twelve - it's been 36 years since then.

the voice in the background/voice over sounds alot like the voice that did Garfield from Garfeild and Friends.

never really notice how dig the dog was to the kid

Yeah, and then the animal dog? Pig? goes right back to roll around in the dirt some more. oh well
-
And you NEVER, NEVER repeatedly hit puppies when they chew everything within their reach, which my dad did!
-
Does anyone have the sketch when an older man sees an animal (I'm not sure what it was) struggle in the dirt, then takes him home and makes him wash up in the tub?

I have not seen this in almost 15 years! Thanks for posting! :)

That is very interesting! You are my dad's age, so I believe you. You were probably about 29 or 30 when you did this. I'm sure you met Joe Raposo. Did you work on a lot of other Sesame Street cartoons?

M, you might want to know this factoid: Joe Raposo composed the song behind this cartoon. According to BMI, the title is "What Would You Do With A Pet" (well obviously), and the registry number is BMI Work #1938201. Good God, is there anything this prolific man DID NOT compose??

Likely it's Joe performing the voice as well, because it sounds exactly like him; compare to his singing performances.

Someone else mentioned that to me a few months ago. It does sound like his voice!

That is very interesting! Well, I was very close to the title anyway.
