Journey back in time with me. The year: 1904. The place: St. Petersburg, Russia. Snow whips outside the Winter Palace—a reflection of despair and rising dissent among the Russian people in reaction to a combination of abject poverty and the failings of the Russo-Japanese War. We see the Winter Palace illuminated against the snow—warm and secure. Inside the Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna has just given birth to the newest heir to the Russian throne. She sings a lullaby to the young Alexei and ponders his bright future—Baby of Mine, How You Will Shine. The night goes on. She stares at the sleeping child—hypnotized by him she takes him and waltzes with him around the room. How she will dote on him. How she longs for his success. How short his life will be. The scene changes. Months pass. We see a Russian Ball—every nobleman and woman is in attendance, including the Tsar and Tsarina. They dance carelessly to the waltz, but the Tsarina cannot bring herself to join in. The music to her is not joyful, but a reminder of what she has left at home—her Alexei. The themes repeat and the song changes. The Tsar approaches her and they dance slowly, alone. The waltz continues. People join in. Alexandras shyness overcomes her and she secludes herself again with Alexei on the mind. It is here we meet Father Grigori Rasputin. She cannot hear the dissonance. He is just as hypnotizing as Alexei—with one joke he has made more of a connection with the Tsarina than anyone has all night. He leaves her to the sounds of the waltz. The party continues and the Tsar and Tsarina are approached. There is something wrong. Their son is dying and they dont know why. They race to his side—their minds a dissonant blur of fear.

  • Ooh I loved the concept for this, definately tells a story through this music :D

  • Yay!

  • Haha, ran out of room. Anyway, this definitely confirms it: you are scoring every single movie that I make! I WON'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER! :P

I cannot wait to hear the rest! :)

  • Im so glad you liked it! *Goes to look up Monteverdis Second Practice* And that the words fit the music is all that I could ask for! I mean, the music came before the words, but I have a basic outline of what I want to show through the music. The transitions between the files is pretty choppy cause I can only convert 1 minute of MIDI to WAV at a time, but I think its worth it for the awesome sound you get with WAV. :D

  • Oh. My. Gosh. So, you actually write this music, right? You don't steel it from Beethoven... do you? It sure sounds like it. The discription that you wrote... wow. It fit the music perfectly. I LOVED this piece. I am so excited for part two. I am going to be counting the days. I love this piece to much. You REALLY should send some of your music to a critic or someone to get you noticed, because, you need to be noticed. This was absolutly amazing. I also think the picture fits too. I loved it. <3

  • This is a very god peice of music some how it realxs me kinda like a lullaby

  • For some odd reason it gives me the image of a supernatural being, but not on an "everyday" vampire/werewolves... something like a wizard or smt... well um.. a magical being? 8D But NOT vampires... x_x

[Vampire can be a little cliche, if you get what I mean, but Mzberri's ones are awesomer ^^ she makes then unique :3 To tell you the truth, I think mzberri's story concept is a hell better than twilight's :D] < why do i always ramble?? Dx

  • Very nice idea!Thank you!

  • Alex, this is wonderful!!

I love how hauntingly beautiful the opening is; it gave me chills, honestly.

Your music wonderfully fits the words you wrote in the description (do I sense that someone was following Monteverdi's Second Practice? lol) and the atmosphere of the music just saturates the air around the listener....
