Your bowl is getting very sooty in the video. I assume you have used lamp oil? I also did and my bowl was sooty too, not to mention the smell ^^ As it is said at the Cona homepage: "Models with a spirit lamp must be fueled with "methylated spirits". [...] Do not use petrol, lamp oil, or any other type of fuel in the spirit lamp!" Since then I use spirit and "voila". Happy brewing ;)

Boyle's law is it? Beautiful video, I love your intelligent gentle disappointment. No big anger just kind and honest. What a nice fellow. Hopefully this beautiful coffee system is working well for you. Cheers!

Thanks for showing this not working the first round.

Good vid of a Cona in action: search here for "Utilisation de la cafetière à dépression Cona"
By continuing to heat the pot for a longer period after the water has ascended, it will cause the air in the bottom vessel to expand upwards and bubble out the top. By removing heat and having the bottom cool with less air / water vapor molecules in it, the base will have much less pressure (stronger vacuum) and "suck" the coffee down quicker.
Beware: longer brew -> stronger -> bitter

schmells goot. enuff for 2 ja?
nerd alert...I would do some research into how course the coffee should be and get a good burr grinder to get it just right. Maybe if the coffee is too fine it blocks up? Maybe the second time was good because there was still some water left in bottom...
thing of beauty and I am rather jealous. I haven't had a good cuppa for weeks as keep not having time to get in to soho for good beans.
That's most generous of you; I’m afraid to say I don’t know what law it is. The only thing I know is that I don’t know why an exponentially increasing number of people appear to be watching this video. I can only assume that a new age of exploration in coffee making has dawned.
