Trolling isn't just to get people angry. Trolls make comments to see other people reactions (angry or not). For example "OMG. I love Pyramid Head in silent hill 4. LoOks SO badASS"; in this case the Troll just want to be corrected.
Don't you get it? The Troll is being fed just by getting a response from you. And he/she is not just getting a response from you, is getting an entire pointless argument, so i would say he IS doing it pretty well.
