How to moly coat your bullets. This is a high tech coating used to reduce friction and lengthen barrel life. It can also reduce fouling, the copper left inside your barrel by reducing friction and increasing velocity.

  • What happens if you don't get all the Moly out of the bore and just shoot regular ammo?

  • @Bouzoukiellas Nothing for me. I shot a mix of moly and plain bullets in the same shooting sessions. I clean the bore thoroughly afterwards.

  • @ammosmith Do you have to clean more when shooting Moly?

  • @Bouzoukiellas Yes and I use a bore paste to get all of it out. Moly is usually a source of debate on it's benefits. I like it for the very high velocity stuff over 3500 f/s in my testing.

  • do you have any vids on how to coat bullets with depleted uranium?

    Thanks

  • LOL looks like theyve been hit with anti seize.

  • @ammosmith I do moly coat all my cast boolits, Quenched WW lead alloy and then pan lube onto of that. I know that seems like a lot of work but they turn out real nice and shoot very well. I did this as just pan lubing i was getting leading on my M&P9pro, with just moly, alot less leading but still leading. When i did both though, the moly didn't coat my fingers and all leading was gone. BTW i was using the Lymans kit on a vibrator if that makes a difference.

  • @ammosmith Yeah, it's a fad, but i am always interested in hearing and trying, its part of the hobby. Reloading became a major shooting experience item, always curious how it works out after spending hours of measuring and precise reloading and sometimes it dont work out, i'm sure you know the feeling. I have seen your other video's, great work! My first reload round was the 44-40, hard to start with (bottlenecked case), but learned a lot. Now only use Moly in my 7.62x54R

  • @wilco490 What's funny is Moly was a fad that died out. There are a lot of different fads that have come and gone over the years. Moly is just one of them. I think as long as the barrel is well taken care of and the load is within spec you're fine. The only rifle I shoot moly bullets in anymore is my .17 Remington

  • @wilco490 You are correct my friend, but most shooters do not know this. They heard it somewhere and think they can improve their groups by doing so. The moly story only applies to experienced shooters and reloaders who know what they are doing.. It can improve your groups by doing it correctly, but as said, be carefull..
