This was actually going to be my FIRST YouTube video and I was 90% done with it last December but the alignment of the snap shots between Auburn and Puyallup became problematic for some reason and then I got in a whole bunch of cool modular synth stuff so this project got shelved! ;-)

The music is all done with one pass of Korg DS-10. The Audio clip was recorded on the train with a Cowon D2 PMP. The photos taken through the train window with a Nikon D70s (I guess I like gear with 'D' on the name! ;-) More details at end of video.

Dedicated to Jim the conductor who retired November 2008.

  • Hi John, Only just found this vid, looks like you've been able to combine trains and synths before I have, ha ha :-)

  • @k2kkoos Hehe . . .yeah . . .maybe there is some sort of subconscious connection to trains and modular synths??? ;-)

  • Eheh, found them. Yeah, I like it.

  • @korgds10 Thanks! :-)

  • Nice work! Very atmospheric. I wish I could stop experimenting with all the features on DS-10 and actually finish something.

  • Thanks Chris! Yeah, I know what you mean. It seems like the last several years i've just been buying equipment, setting it up and debugging problems but not producing anything! (until this year that is ;-)

  • @JohnLRice I think in both cases we spend waaayyy to much time on these hobbies, let alone the money that goes into it. Both these hobbies result in rolling eyes or shrugging shoulders on the part of my wife and others. I'm just not understood. I guess there's another connection :-)

  • Thank you my friend! Yes, I've been thinking of passing it along to PT's marketing department. ;-)

  • Hey thanks! When I first started the peice I was trying to do something Tangerine Dream like, and then it slowley morphed into something else . . .

  • That's really nice, fun to watch - amazing you did it on a gaming unit only also, while on the train!

You should send it to ST (copyright it of course :-O), they'd love it and probably hire you. They could use some creative Multi-media types in their PR area!
