Just being around the the South Fork of the Eel River when it's emerald green is a pleasure. The chance to hook a Winter Steelhead just adds to the mystique.

  • Eric what kind of cam. do you use?

  • About a 3 year old Sony 7.2 MP and a 2 year old Olympus 850 SW waterproof - both just basic handheld digital cameras. I'm due for an upgrade soon, but all the little digitals I've used over the years have been great.

  • Aloha Eric, I used to have a friend that guided Steelhead fishermen on the Eel River way back in the 80s his name was Macky Redd, probably don't know him but just checking. Lost track of him about 15 years ago after he moved back to Mainland from Hawai'i. My sis lives on the San Lorenzo River down south between Santa Cruz & Felton, says the steelheads are running there too. One day i'll get there and fish it. Awesome vid, mahalo for sharing.

  • Looks like a good day to me....
