i did the same thing on my iphone 3g but the fuckin retarded genius at apple told me that he is going to take it apart and fix it i told him if he could just replace my whole phone and he didn't so i took it back home at removed the tape so please if there is any other way help me out cauz my warranty is ending in 2 weeks and this didnt work out to well 4 me almost but not quoit there.

Ya the same thing happend to me but the guy didnt notice the tap! lol But try and just get a really small clear piece and put it on there so it is not visible or try and like unplug a cable from the mother board and make it look like it is still on there

Quick Q: I removed that "do not remove" sticker because I needed to replace the battery. What do you think apple will do if I try to do your trick to my phone?

Well what i would do it try and unplug the cable at the top so the sleep button doesnt work or something. But that is just to be extra safe and focus there eyes more on the top of the phone. But i am sure u could do do the home button to but there is a slight chance they might see it but most likely not. But if they find it and turn u down. all u have to do is go another time and hope to get some one new and hopefully they wont see it lol I have done that be for.

Lol, na they will probely be happier that they got that phone instead of one that is actually broken. I have replaced mine like 4 times and every time i unplugged something or did the home button tap thing and i never hear back from them saying oh u did this you self or anything. So you dont have to worry about that.

just put a clear adheseves on it. i thought i the same idea and it worked. i put a VERY thin layer of epoxy on tht gold and it worked, they replaced it!
