I got no connection to the video, just fascinated by it....It's says 1966 at the beginning, because the kids in the video are pretending it's 1966 in 1983/84 (driving a late 60's model car and listening to ska).....i'm sure somebody can back me up and confirm this by the little things u see in the video and write back. I'm on New Dorp Lane everyday and thats what it used to look like in the mid 80's.

@revup67 I grew up in Grasmere, not far from New Dorp. I was in Staten Island last year, and I was nostalgically reminiscing about SI in the 1980s.

I've been to Staten Island before, I'd be? hard pressed to find a more despicable city in the US! Nothing but hordes of prostitues and miles and miles of adult-oriented (i.e. porn) businesses. Hardly anyone there spoke english, and I often felt like I was in some pre-industrialized civilization. After only a few hours I was covered head-to-toe in dirt and filth! The only real highlight was a stroll around Silver Lake, where I saw lots of shirtless men jogging, BUT THE REST WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!!!
