@Tannenberg71410 His name is Николай Андреевич Римский-Корсаков. Nikolai Andreyevich Rimsky-Korsakov. Nikolai - 1st name, Rimsky-Korsakov - 2nd name ("familiya"), Andreyevich - "otchestvo", the name of his father. From Russia with love.

If Ivan the Terrible could hear this he'd get married again just to hear the music! Way to go Rimsky (Or is it Nicholai - or Korsakov?) Whatever. Great performance of a stirring and exciting piece of classic Russian art.

Pletnev gives a neatly "classical" performance, very attractive, with a Mendelssohnian légéreté lightening the Russian darkness. A gorgeous piece to begin a fine opera!

Rarely staged outside of Russia, don’t miss the Royal Opera House’s first production of Rimsky-Koraskov’s tragic tale of Ivan the Terrible’s dark quest for a wife in The Tsar’s Bride. A highlight of the Season, it is a rare opportunity to see an operatic gem.

beautyful music and orchestration too

He looks like Gordon Freeman from Half Life 2!

A very "Tchaikovskian" work, This theme song (1:19) was also used in Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1 "Winter Dreams" (First Movement: Dreams of a winter journey). Thanks for the upload!
Thanks to upload this! It's one of the best symphonic passages of Korsakov.
