Unfortunately, I had to lower a few settings so it would stay smooth(kind of) while recording. Usually I play at 1680x1050 with AA and Filtering set higher.

Resolution: 1280x1024
AA:2x, Texture Filtering: 2x
All settings Max except Motion blur at medium.
V-Sync: Off

FPS while recording: 19-22
FPS without recording: 60-75
FPS with higher settings: 40-50 (without recording)

  • I have close to your config. Game wise its fine but when I try to use fraps something just seems busted. When trying to record fraps drops to 9 fps regardless if in game or in main menu. Any ideas whats causing that? First time i've seen this kinda problem with fraps.

  • Sorry, I have no clue =/

Try updating drivers? lol that's the first thing I usually say when people have problems...

Make sure you have the latest version of Fraps.

Are you running the game at a high-res? Maybe your computer simply just doesn't have enough power to run it with Fraps with the settings you have.

  • WOAH! from 60-75 down to 19-22? WOAH That's quite a massive drop O.o

    Still an awesome showoff =)

  • Yah lol, it was kind of disappointing because I wanted to record the gameplay in 1680x1050 (my fav resolution) but oh well. Now I just have those ugly black bars on the side lol...

  • Ah well, can't win them all =)

I'm quite surprised you got that though, you have Raid0 don't you?

  • Haha, yah guess so. And yah I have raid 0 on 2 250GB hd's.

  • Nice i have a 9800GTX+ to

  • nice

  • That's quite strange that you would get that kinda drop when you have raid. Fraps usually only lowers your FPS if your HDD has slow read/write times but since you have raid it shouldn't be an issue.

    Ah well, blame shift =P
