a turbocharged engine will never sound so pure as a natural aspirated one...saddly, BMW does not build the wonderful direct injection 272HP engine into the Z4. It's either the small 2,5 204HP or the "old" 258HP 3,0l (it's actually the 265HP version from the old Z4, but brought up to Euro5, desto the 8HP loss)

i dono why but all bmw engine exhaust sounds are too soft :( i hae had x5 735 525 530 z42.2. wish they made it louder
