@Greenjah81 ...sound invented and recorded in post, such as animation films are a superb freedom for designer as well as some films that use 3D graphics and particular wardrobe or objects that will need a special sound created.
@phlizmo I do Production Mixing and Sound Design for film and TV for about 6 years now as a freelancer. I agree about foley importance, but I really prefer to get foley from the set from the real clothing and staff, there are many techniques to prevent noise getting in to a lavs and a boom mics so you can grab Dialogue as well as Foley at the same time, thus you won't have to do all the foley in the film in studio though some movies will require many additional foley...
Apparently this guy "Ibarragnify" upset a lot of people with his comments about foley being a thing of the past - and proceeded to remove each and every one of said comments^^
@lbarraganify well you obviously have your views. I just happen to work in the game industry designing sound for AAA titles and we use foley all the time. But you are welcome to your view. :)
@lbarraganify do you actually know anyone working in games? Games, TV, Movies: All of them still utilize foley. Trust me, much faster and easier to get the right performance.
Everything you've said is totally accurate? How about "FOLEY isn't even done anymore. We cut all sounds from a library in the studio." You don't have to do much work to find proof that films utilize Foley. There's actually a great video on how the sounds for King Kong were made on youtube.
very well presented
