Sometimes all that a person needs is to have someone tell them , it's ok NOT to believe.

I agree. I have thought that for a long while. They shouldn't just provoke the pious into becoming defensive, they should provoke deep thoughts of rationalism and logic. Perhaps putting up scriptural verses like "if two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity." Deuteronomy 25:11-12

I wonder about some particular billboards. They do not seem to create a better understanding of what it is to not-believe to those who do. It seems that instead these billboards strengthen the believer's resolve and gets them angry rather than get them thinking. I sincerely want them to give serious thought to this issue so that they can escape these belief systems that keep them from being more educated & to escape the bonds of fear & guilt.

If these Xtians would really trust their God, one lousy billboard wouldn't change that. The fact that it bothers them so much points to some subconscious but serious doubt in their own faith.

The billboard itself is in no way shocking or distasteful, so it's just the message that makes them nervous. That speaks volumes about them, not about the FFRF.
