Through the incident of the woman caught in adultery in John 8:1-11, Jesus shows us how a judgemental legalistic attitude is worse than adultery. But Jesus does not give licence to adultery, but corrects with utmost mercy and compassion. Zac Poonen, tells us how the only way to grow spiritually is to stop judging others and start judging ourselves. For he who accuses others has the same spirit of the devil who is accuser of the brethren. And when we realize how we have failed, we are convicted of our sin by gaining intellectual understanding, but unless we are broken and go to God in deep repentance, we continue to fail in this area. This clip is an extract from the message " Characteristics of Pharisees" delivered in a conference on "Led by the Spirit, not under the Law". • wow im guilty ....

  • Great message!

  • @RobertMOdell

If U look at this man and some of the things he says outside of this little segment, U will find that he agrees with U that people do judge righteously just as he himself is pointing out in his own congregation how people get all holier than thou, and then get into legalistic works thinking. I believe we need to get our eyes on Christ, and keep a closer eye on ourselves then others, as I believe he is pointing out. But yes, there are times for correction as pointed out elsewhere.

  • @RobertMOdell what i mean is dat we cant be on top of people all the time, and accusing them, and bein all in their business, of course if they r in church they have to have respect, but we can be like the pharisees and be all over them, and making them feel like crud, because we don't battle agains flesh nor blood..sin does need to be exposed but again there is an order on how to do it..

  • @RobertMOdell dats called holy anger, and when u have holy anger u cant sin, Jesus got angry because they were doing something that was way out of proportion, if i know dat a man is commiting adultery i will tell him dat its sin and there wouldn't be buts about it, but if i see a man and a women having sex at the door step of church or having sex or makin out like monkeys in church u bet im not gonna be passive about it...and im going to do somethin like Jesus would have done...but i wont sin

  • @OneIsrael77 By that I think you mean to lash out in anger against someone's sin. Well, that depends on the circumstances. Jesus also lashed out at times against sin. One example being, the money changers in the temple. In many cases, sins are grievous, doing much harm and an angry repsonse is perfectly justified. One should be sensitive to Holy Spirit and be willing to show love and mercy to the guilty. Jesus came to deliver us from all our sins and I don't mean that just figuratively.
