Performance in All Conditions :

Trimaran hull concept vastly improves performance on a wide range of sea conditions enabling extended warfighting availability to the U.S. Navy. The slender center hull and two smaller side hulls gives the smaller ship the operational characteristics of a larger craft providing greater stability in rough seas and combat conditions.

Further improving performance, the aluminum structure and selective use of steel provides huge advantages of stability and buoyancy, improved damage protection, reduced magnetic signature (quieter operations) and significant increases in the ship's usable interior space compared to a monohull design.

Modular Mission Capabilities :

The design has the performance to bring more warfighting capability to the mission front. Modular launch systems and an extended flight deck provide maximum flexibility and enable rapid deployment of UAV, sensors and mission personnel.

Yeah, I was in the service. That doesn't mean I'm stupid enough to buy into the idea that they need to waste all my tax money on unnecessary boats. They already have the top of the line boats, things like this are just another way to waste tax money. Like the blue angels, 100% waste of tax money. Every time they go up, the cost of the fuel, the cost of transporting them, the pilots' paychecks, for what? So everyone knows our jets fly? We see that every day without wasting extra money.

Nice ship.

But it seems fit for only coastal duty. Looks too small to carry on sustained ops.

And bad news. I heard GD forgot to install the corrosion magnets on this ship while it was in wet dock for 2 years.

They said the hull is being eaten away literally.

Honestly I don't find the ship's shape as intimidating--it looks a bit goofy. GD should never forget attention to aesthetics--this is part of the ship's deterrence!
