This is another of the 'trios' recorded in New York in April 1946 with Don Ewell; pno. and Alphonso Steele; dms. after Bunk had been re-discovered working at Conrad's Rice Mill, New Iberia, La.
These tracks, and those of similar date featuring him with his re-formed band, proved to be the inspiration for the N.O. Revival that took both sides of "the pond" by storm in the following two decades.
(You can see why Don Ewell was chosen, can't you?)
The end was cut off! Sad.
Bunk's playing is a revelation. I can now imagine how Manuel Perez and some others who never recorded must have played.

@lesterwyoung Sadly this is getting to be even more of a common occurrence these days. Not enough attention paid to those important details.

How strange-I hear JRM all through this recording.Thank you MDF for this contribution.

This example is playing faster than the speed at which it was recorded, so that it sounds in A natural rather than Ab,(the usual key.)

Great old-timey feeling, even for a ´46 recording. Thanks for uploading!
