Thanksgiving Mass of Fr. Soc at the EDSA Shrine, Nov. 8, 2009

The 1st Rector of the EDSA Shrine, Father Soc, who bid us goodbye to be the 3rd Bishop of Balanga, Bataan, was installed last November 4 as the 5th Archbishop of the Lingayen-Dagupan, in the province of Pangasinan.

Last November 7, Saturday, he presided the concelebrated 6pm Mass in his native town of Pateros, Rizal. At the Parish of San Roque where his vocation started, he narrated his indebtedness to Msgr. Hinete. His Excellency, Bishop Francisco San Diego of Pasig reminisced on the seminary days of Fr. Soc while he (Bishop San Diego) was one of the formators of the San Carlos Seminary.

November 8, Sunday, the 8am concelebrated Mass at the EDSA Shrine was well attended by over 200 seminarians from Guadalupe Minor Seminary, Lorenzo Mission Institute, Holy Apostles Senior Seminary and San Carlos Seminary. Understandably, the EDSA Shrine was jampacked with people, young and old alike.

Father Soc reminded the people to just call him as Father Soc. He requested for more prayers for his indescribably huge task as Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan, as he recognized his being little as compared to the position.

The EDSA Shrine community assured Fr. Soc of prayers and steady support.
