Holly Pereira is an artist and musician. She has been playing and writing music for fourteen years. She regularly attends open mic sessions around Dublin, like the Ruby and Zodiac Sessions, respectively. Her style lies (at the moment) somewhere between jazz, bossa nova, pop and indie, with a bit of sound sculpture thrown in; if you can imagine such a thing....When gigging she is accompanied by the fantastic and bluesy efforts of Rob and Sean Mc Donnell, and Tom Mulrooney; i.e. The Latter Days Saints. Her songs are always short, sometimes sweet, and most have a dark and bitter undercurrent - see if you can hear it!! But at the end of the day she just loves music....would play anything, anywhere, anytime. Except the spoons. They look really hard to get the hang of. In her current series of paintings, Kin, she seeks to explore her Asian heritage through the traditional medium of portraiture. In particular she concentrates on her female relatives in an attempt to connect with this small community of women through painting and photographic installation. She recently wrapped up her first solo exhibition in Monster Truck Gallery on Francis St. Lucky for her, the work seemed to go down pretty nice.
