(May 8, 2008) While oil and natural gas prices are skyrocketing, the world's energy consumers are trying to find ways to reserve oil and gas for themselves. Now, energy rich countries are using their resources as political leverage: Iran is trying to sell it. Venezuela is trying to barter and trade, while oil hungry countries use different strategies to buy into Africa.

i see. it's fit and moral to control your North American brothers with weapons to curb their freedom of speech, but America is not to use its military against foreigners. your own kind should be "controlled by weapons.' use force on North Americans but not on foreigners. that being said, alternative energy has a place in the energy scheme. but it cannot replace oil with respect to our huge demand on energy and our addiction to modern convenience. only nuclear power can address our energy addiction. unless you want to ditch your car, washer/drier, home heating, lighting, internet, industry, personal & public transportation, freight transport, .........civilization as we know it.

because alternatives cannot meet the demand. and how can you propel a ship on solar/wind? you must do the math! and windmills have a tendency to not turn when you need them the most. the only viable alternative to oil is nuclear - meaning large & small scale - such as home heating and an automotive energy source. if you don't agree, just do the math.
