Horse gets Oiled for Colic

Connor, a 30+ yr OTTB (Off-track-Thoroughbred, meaning he's an ex-racehorse) exhibited symptoms of acute colic yesterday evening. Called the on-call vet out: he was examined, then oiled. Under standing sedation, a flexible tube was inserted through his nose("up your nose with a rubber hose" kudos to anybody who knows who first coined that phrase!!!), down into his stomach, and back washed with water; a gallon of oil is then pumped into his stomach to "lubricate and get things going". This was followed with a shot of banamine. This morning, he is fine!!!

@filly4billy2002 Thanks! He was my first horse and a really great horse! Everybody loved him. Sadly, he had to be euthanized last month.

Thanks Eagleso. We are all so glad Connor is doing well. Despite his 30+ years, he is a favorite with the riders because he is so responsive to the leg and he loves to canter!

Thank Goodness Connor is well, I do not like to see a horse get colic. Colic is horrorable to horses to get.
