Extreme Challenge 85
Bismarck Civic Center
Bismarck, North Dakota U.S.A.
October 6, 2007

I just got this footage, almost three months after the fight. Thank you to Marshall Martin for it.

The Extreme Challenge rented the Dakota Fighting Championships cage, hence the DFC logo in the center of the cage.

Dominic Cooks credentials as they were told to me is that he had 5 wins and 0 losses. He is also a "hand to hand combat instructor" for the military, and that he trained in all of the following: Boxing, Wrestling, Muay Thia Kick Boxing, and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

This fight was at Light Heavyweight (205lbs). I made weight, yippy! A great big "Thanks" goes to Mike Reilly for all of his help in this area.

Before I saw this video I thought that Dominic had never hit me during the fight. The video clearly shows him trying to hit me although I'm certain he never hit me in the face. My face looked perfect after the fight. I also thought that I had hit him only once and really hard although the video shows that I threw three consecutive powder puff punches to his melon while on the ground.

What you don't see because it's off screen: On Dominic's second take down he got under me well and lifted me up high for a slam. Before he slammed me I had secured the guillotine deep under his chin. When we hit the ground I had full guard and just extended my hips and choked him. The choke was sunk deep.

If you watch closely you can see that while on my back at the start of the fight I have an under hook and a half butterfly guard. I felt completely comfortable and never felt in danger although when he tried to guillotine me he did have my neck pretty tight. I just kept relaxed, he didn't do anything to leverage the choke tight.

And while we are at it, his face looked the same after the fight, too. Dominic was pretty cool after the fight.

Speaking of pretty cool after the fight, how about those dance moves? Two commission members were complete dick heads about the post fight dancing. To be honest though, a lot of people(EVERYONE that I have talked to) thought that I was going to pull my shorts down for a mooning. Although that was the perception, I was only doing the "Ravishing Rick Rude" dance where you put your thumbs into the top of the shorts and gyrate the hips... my shorts were too tight and I couldn't do it. Anyway, sorry to anyone that thought they were going to see my ass crack through my nut cup straps. That wasn't really my intention. I will also say publicly as I did privately that I meant no disrespect to Dominic Cook or his camp for the post fight dancing. I would like to say that North Dakota actually has the best commission that I have ever had to deal with. They run a real tight ship to the fighters and the general publics benefit. But hey everyone makes a mistake every once in a while.

  • Stop touching gloves people! Wrestlers do cheap moves like that and take guys down easy.

  • @MaharlikaAWA , I really didn't care as usual I came out on top. It was my last fight. The guy I fought, Dominic Cook, is really a pretty cool guy. He was just trying to win and he didn't even cheat. Dominic is a cool guy. We still talk every once in a while.

  • @EthanBoiled Of course he didnt cheat. Its not cheating to touch a glove then shoot in or fake to touch a glove etc...its allowed. I just think its smarter never to touch gloves and it shouldnt be seen as disrespectful not to touch gloves. You touch them before the ref sends you to your corners anyway. Also touching gloves only gives your opponent a chance to square up with you and get close. Fighters should never touch gloves anymore and start off far away. Then see FLYING KICKS YEAH!

  • @MaharlikaAWA Have you heard the old expression "You're not trying hard enough unless you're cheating"? That's what I was referring to. Your comments about touching gloves have a lot of merit. Thank you for posting.

  • How long ago was this?

  • @JustMeh247 Jan 21, 2008, and it was my last fight.

  • @GetDatSteak Now THAT was an amzing kick and totally inspiring!!!! But wouldnt it be hilarious if a guy just ran at the opponent right when the bell rang and did a flying sidekick?? I would love to see that!

  • @MaharlikaAWA anothny pettis

  • @MaharlikaAWA like the kick jumping of the cage? i forgot who that was

  • @GetDatSteak That is true and that is what I would do. But instead of touching gloves I would so a flying sidekick and yell as loud as I can and prove that such moves can WIN!! KNOCK PEOLPE OUT!!! Do you think its possible? I wanna see people try insane moves and just go all out without caring about how Joe Rogan will commentate on them.

  • @EthanBoiled your horny cattle rancher victory celebration could use a little work haha. nice choke

  • @MaharlikaAWA or you could touch 1 glove and have the other fist cocked and ready to shoot haha

  • @EthanBoiled haha thanks. I believe in honor and respect but you are there to fight and also to win. You touch gloves with the ref, then I personally believe you are now in combat mode. Dont let anyone get any advantage! Also using tricky tactics is SMART fighting and its not cheating. I would like to see less people touch gloves when the clock is already ticking. and I DO wanna see a CRAZY flying kick attack at the start of a match!! Like run fast and RRRRAAAAAAAAAA!!!! SMACK! We have yettosee!
