One of the things I'm trying to regain after stopping for 15 years is finesse. This song requires some degree of finesse...and this cover is about all the finesse I can manage at this point. But my favorite is still hitting h-a-r-d.

  • if you trying to play what phil did you aren't close. if you ae playing it your way then OK but some of the kicks are off. remember phil has kind of a swing to his playing so try to capture that too. where are the kicks in the violin and keyboard solo section? it is in 7/8 and the bass drumm part is not right, i give you credit for how much you did work on this. goodluck!

  • No, I don't copy people. Never have. Drum interpretations of a musical composition are never one way only with all over versions being wrong. The original drummer, while possibly being a percussion genius may not necessarily have the best musical (not percussive) interpretation, even if he did it first. The next guy could be more inspired. Anyway...all my covers are loose, I don't "work" on them, I just groove the songs I like. BTW, that section is 9/8, not 7/8. Count it aloud.

  • dude wit your big mouth where is youre drum movie please where are not al as good is you areXD sukkel met je groote bek .lowflyer55 rocks and got nice drum skils so go gry somewhere else omg

  • Hey there Norway...you're very kind, thanks my man. And thanks for listening...hope all is well there in Norway / Finland. Take care!

  • @wildmanhawkes I have just picked up playing the thumpers after 20 years away, and BELIEVE ME I appreciate what you are feeling... LOL - and it is such a rush to play some of the early Kansas stuff (SFA, Down the Road, Lonely Street, Bringing it back, Devil Game, etc).

  • what was the second song you played on the player before you put the right song on?

  • very cool. thanks for the post

  • Nice playing...I love playing this song because it almost invites a person to play it in an open-ended manner (time sigs, fills, cymbal combos, etc)....keep up the good work...

  • Great Job. I too stopped playing for about 15 years and started up again about 5 years ago. You sound great and the ass hole who talked about copying original is just an idiot. Rock my Bro!

  • Excellent!! You got it!!! Carry On!

  • WOW!!!!!

  • where is???

    hahaha keep it drumming!

  • wow man, great song, great drumming especially for a song this difficult
