  • check out my w7 in HO enclosure, better video what it really does

  • @ALTW7 This video was taken the 2nd day i had it. I was still 'breaking it in'. But yeah i love the set up. I'll take a 12w7 in a H O Wedge over a 13 in a sealed prowedge any day.

  • hmn... you can get the 12w7 anniversary edition for $520 on amazon and the "HO112R-W7" for $770 so basically you're paying $250 for the JL audio enclosure.

I've never built a sub enclosure before but I'm sure I could build one that looks nicer that that cheesy orange thing. The question is whether it will perform as well...

nah fuck it il just pay $250 for the JL enclosure lol.

  • @vassillioss lol...yeah dude I know they got good prices online- but i know some good people with the hook up in my hood and the warranty is big for me. As for the H O Wedge, there is a video which the whole schematics on how to build one- Full specs and all if you want a project. I forget the youtube id but it shouldn't be hard to find.

  • @vassillioss That enclosure was built after a lot of extensive research by scientists. It's not a normal port and the structure built inside looks like intricate scaffolding. Never seen a bo like that til I bought one. It's well worth $250. I had my w7 in a sealed box built to spec and the bass is nice and tight but this HO box has ridiculous low end BOOM.

  • I have a double din pioneer with the built in eq. A friend who installs mentioned it prob doesn't put out as many volts as the alpine head unit I used to have. And it doesn't seem as strong in some instances. Prob gonna give the jx a shot, I just need a couple days to convince myself not to spend the extra money I don't have on a slash or etc.

  • H O wedge box will give u more SPL too..

  • @PATTON003 Oh and another thing, thr head unit will make a difference. If you have a bass & treble setting ONLY: set your bass to thr negatives 1/3 or 1/4 of the way and treble near max. Then adjust your gain, then bass boost. If u have lows, mids and highs: L-0, M- 1/3 to 1/5+, H-near max. If you have an broader range of sound control defeat all freq @ 100hz and below on the head unit then adjust mids and higha to you liking.after that set the gain and bass boost.

  • @PATTON003 it could be your amp. I would say look into the jx1000/1d by jl. The jx models ARE 3ohm stable and pretty inexpensive. I also cut a port hole into the center of the back seat to let the bass in. Doing that reduced the interior rattling and now sounds much better. Dynamat might help some, i dont use it in my set up and it sounds fine.Since then, my settings have changed to 85hz, 3/4 gain and 2/3 bass boost. Loud AND CLEAR.

  • I have a similar setup with a 12w7 in an Altima. Don't have the 3 ohm amp yet but at 2 or 4 ohms from my pdx it has some serious rattle issues where it sounds kinda muddy. This is whether the gain is maxed or halfway. Just wanted to ask if you had a rattle problem? I plan to dynomat and maybe change boxes but was curious. Thanks for any help, -d
