This was recorded Apriil 23 1927 for the Gennett label.Sam was one of the earliest country Blues performers to record in any kind of depth. His output includes classics such as the Jailhouse blues ,Midnight Special (pre-dating Leadbelly) Yellow dog blues and Hesitation blues.He was sometimes billed as Crying Sam Collins and his gitfiddle. He was also know as Jim Foster and died in Chicago october 20 1949
