Featuring Congressman Michael C Burgess, MD, Jane Orient, MD, & Richard Amerling, MD in a lively panel discussion regarding the patient-physician relationship. This briefing was held in the Canon House office Building in Washington DC on May 26, 2011. Whether you supported the passage of Obamacare or opposed it, the reality is that the new laws will have real world effects. The members of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons are on the front lines of caring for patients and would like to discuss the bill's effect on the patient-doctor relationship.

Health care has a supply and demand problem. Shortages created by our own government regulations(fewer drugs, doctors/nurses and hospitals) are forcing prices to go up. This is great for the people on the supply side but bad for consumers on the demand side.

Dr/Congressman Burgess: ACO's cannot work, regardless of where the money goes. The ACO model is a contorted HMO model.
Let's not give the model any more credibility and keep the conversation limited to the only economic model that can work... a transparent market place.
