This one is actually Alan Menken...I believe this was one of the final songs that Howard Ashman wrote prior to his death but was too ill at the time to demo the song himself. Still a very nice tune.

@gurlie1275 it's actually Menken. Unless Alan can't recognize his own voice, he makes note that it's him singing on this demo in the notes for "The Music Behind The Magic" boxset. He also notes that he wished Howard had been well enough to sing it himself as he would've loved to have heard his take on it.

Will you do the "Human Again" demo. I can't order the box set and I can't find the demo anywhere else.

Some reason I always thought Robin Williams mostly improvised the lyrics for this and “Friend Like Me”, and agreed to give credit to the late Ashman as a sign of respect.

@gurlie1275 Actually, this is Alan. Howard had a deeper, less nasally voice, and he tended to put more character into his demos than Alan did. And Howard was too ill to record his and Alan's demos. When "Something There" was recorded for Beast, he had to have a microphone and speakers by his bed so he could listen to and comment on the recording session. And when he said something, everyone would have to be quiet so they could hear him, because his voice had gotten so weak.

@jldraw Which is why we have A Whole New World and One Jump Ahead in the final movie.

R.I.P HE IS A DISNEY LEGEND

@robertreturns Yes he and Menken did Little Shop together.

@jldraw ashman did the little shop play, right?

@robertreturns Yeah Ashman passed away from complications due to AIDS during work on the second draft of Aladdin. Ashman had already written a score with Menken for Aladdin which was rejected due to the fact that the storyline for the film changed so dramatically during production (see the Aladdin DVD for more details on this) - So Menken and Ashman then had to go back and write another batch of songs later on. Ashman died during this time and Menken went on to write with Tim Rice.
Ups. my error, sorry Alan, I adore the overture...
