These are Amos and Andy my 1 year old African Dwarf Frogs. This is what happy and healthy ADFs should look like. Amos and Andy are both males, and they fight. If they injure each other, they would quickly develop infection and die (there is no effective way to medicate a sick frog). Hence the divider in this 30 gallon tank. ADFs live entirely under water their entire lives, and live an average of 3 years if properly cared for. They need to be in a CLEAN well kept aquarium, and do well with other social fishes like guppies and neons. They surface about once very 20 minutes for air. If you take them out of water or the water is too shallow these frogs will die. They do not "beach" themselves like amphibious frogs, these are AQUATIC frogs. They need a lot of room: the ones you buy in county fairs in the little quart sized containers are too small and unless they are moved to a larger home those frogs die in a couple of months or less. If they shed more than twice a year the water needs to be checked for ammonia or other toxins (test kits available at any pet store).
It's a cool frog!
