The summer of 2007
A summer we'll NEVER forget!
We're on our way to the
Spectrum Sunstone Mine in
Plush, OR to dig the World Famous Oregon Sunstones. The Spectrum Mine was once owned by Tiffany's of New York and is famous for their red and green sunstones.

Miles and miles of dirt-dusty, sagebrush, covered roads into the desert we traveled to come face to face with...
Sagebrush...miles and miles of sagebrush,
Scorpions,
Jackrabbits,
Rattlesnakes,
Coyotes,
Gorgeous Sunsets,
Breathtaking Sunrises,
Spectacular starry night skies,
A few UFO's,
Holes, lots and lots of holes, (we won't talk about my mental breakdown)
Dry, dusty windstorm days
and sleepless, cold nights nestled all in a thin nylon tent armed only with a BB gun and a flashlight with no batteries, it was the most exciting fun we've had on vacation in our entire life.

Determination, will, stamina and a good sense of humor....we concord the desert dust twisters at the Spectrum Sunstone Mine in Plush, Oregon.

Until next time Spectrum....if there is a next time...LOL
We came,
We saw,
We dug,
We got dirty,
We left.

Here's a link to the Spectrum Sunstone Mine website, if you're interested in making it your next vacation destination get-away:

We are not affiliated with the Spectrum Sunstone Mine. We just saw it on the Travel Channel "Cash & Treasure" show and basically took Becky Worley's advice to visit. :0)
Believe me, it's a vacation trip we STILL talk about!

  • @maxxsmoke - if you couldn't find reds and greens at the Spectrum you are doing it wrong! ...and for the people asking below - the easiest way is the Conveyor Belt run - worth every penny...
