Takin' My Time is the third album by Bonnie Raitt, released in 1973. Widely considered one of her strongest works, it was praised by critic Robert Christgau for "conveying songs from Calypso Rose and Martha Reeves Vandella into the women's music of the '70s."
In an interview given in 1982, Raitt would reveal that "Takin' My Time is one of my favorite records to listen to, although I started out with Lowell George producing it, and he and I got too close to be able to have any objectivity about it. That's the problem when you're a woman and you get involved with the people you work with - and I just don't just mean romantically. It becomes too emotional. It's hard to have a strong woman telling the man her ideas when, in fact, the man wants to take over the situation. So that album had a lot of heartache in it. At the time it was a difficult one to make, but now I like it."
The cover photo was taken in Union Station in Los Angeles.

Bonnie Raitt can do no wrong when it comes to her music. This song, and the way she sings it is, in my view, the epitome of perfection. I do love Bonnie Raitt!

Okay...have to say...having followed Bonnie from early, early on..sure you can say she did some good songs, but her early albums are raw, real and beyond comparison to the more commercial world...She stays true to the blues, but I love all the earliest Bonnie and she has done great in all areas..but do not put down her past, cause the musicians she played with and her soul come through on all the earliest works...

I wouldn't necessarily agree with the writeup above.....Bonnie's voice has become richer with better phrasing as she gets older. She did better written songs on later albums.

I'm honestly not sure, but I really, REALLY hope you didn't just suggest that Bonnie Raitt is in the same "league" as Shania Twain. Shania Twain isn't in the same league as Bonnie Raitt and never will be; as a man once said- they're not even playing the same sport. B. Raitt is an incredible legend. S. Twain is a pop country singer whose ass some producer liked. And I have no idea where this Rising Sun thing is coming from.
