Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance 2009

The 2009 Concours D'Elegance was held under partly sunny skies, Sunday, August 16 along the legendary golf course at Pebble Beach, California. Thousands of guests viewed outstanding motorcars. First conducted in 1950, the Pebble Beach Concours dElegance is often said to be the worlds premier celebration of the automobile. Only the most beautiful and rare automobiles are invited to appear on the famed eighteenth fairway of Pebble Beach Golf Links each year, and connoisseurs of art and technology congregate to see them.

Ferrari showed some of their finer beasts from their stables of sports cars including the Ferrari California a 460 HP V8 convertible for slightly under 200,000$

Other exciting sports cars included the Audi A8 450 hp, 6 speed automatic transmission $120,000. The new Mclearn, the all carbon composite 627 hp car. The Buggati Veryon, 1,040 hp with top speed of 248.5 mph and 0 - 60 in 2.7 seconds.




Shown for the first time is the Tramontana from Costa Brava in Spain. Set up like a jet fighter with driver in front, and passenger directly behind, this two person car 12 cycynder, 720 hp is completely made of carbon fiber.

More classical manufacturers like Jaguar showed their new designs since being purchased by Tata Motors of India last year. The new XK convertible captures the classical styling with modern enhancements.

Porche showed it new four door Panamera - from the front a classic porche style and from the rear a resembalance to the Crossfire.

One of the more eye chatching historic cars being displayed was a 1953 Cadilliac Ghia - one of two ever built as a prototype. Built for the 1953 Paris auto show. Shown by Blackhawk Motors.

At Gooding and Company an awe-inspiring collection of fantastic motorcars were auctioned off on two nights. From Ferraris to Rollys Royces to one of a kind corvettes - there was something to inspire even the most jaded car enthusiast. A 1955 Mercedes - Benz 300 sl gullwing with matching luggage to a 1955 Ghia Streamline x gilda jet car Gooding & Company had the gambit of great cars. It even auctioned the chasis #1 of the brand new Bentley model which had been unvieled earlier that day.
