MT senior editor Ron Kiino puts the new 2011 Ford Mustang V-6 through a battery of tests including the dyno and finds that Ford's 305 horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 is an engine that's finally worthy of being under the hood of the Mustang.

  • In Motor Trends hot lap the boss 302 track time was 1:41.06 to the GT500 1:44.03 and the boss is about 1/3 less the price. A 375 hp twin turbo SHO V6 in a stang would rape both these cars for about 36k. Horsepower is not everything. Braking balance weight tranfer and corner g force hooking the ponys up work all together in making a great track time. For the horsees the gt500 has it's 1/4 mile times are not even that good,If you can't hook it up, its wasted power and weight. GT is now a dinosaur

  • if they say its 305 horsepower to the crank and its putting 308 to the wheels its really like 360 horsepower to the carmk because of parisitic loss

  • I do have to admit the Boss stang is the best production muscle car ever. But the motors been upgraded, front A arms all done over, bigger brakes and I wonder if it has the electic type resitant shocks were the fluid gets hard by computer sencers like a rolls. Ford is dying to put the SHO turbo v6 in a stang, but then what would they do with the GT & Shelby?

  • @liellibg it's an american car. sure america is catching up, but they have never been famous for balance. they usually lack in suspension and handling and make up for that with a giant engine.

  • Put lower gears that are in the GT stang in the V6 performance pakg, off the gov, put in a lighter high rev driveshaft. I'd bet the V6 would walk all over the V8 on a track. It's a much lighter better balanced car than the V8. Everytime I watch a V8 stang brake hard, it reminds me of someone trying a handstand. Its a shame to see this beautiful motor in such an unbalanced car. They added 6"cowl forward,instead of pulling the motor back they added leg room.$ always win out over performance

  • This guy has the worst annunciation ever. Sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles when he talks. Gets on my nerves.
