Robert Llewellyn talks to Leo Laporte at http://live.twit.tv/ and answers callers' questions about the forthcoming Red Dwarf special.

The full interview was over an hour long. This video compiles the juicy bits about the new project.

This was captured from a live stream, so the quality is not fantastic.

  • To those who dis Red Dwarf seasons 7 and 8 I say this.

They might not have been as good as the previous 6 but they're still great TV.

And sub par British Red Dwarf is way better than above par American Red Dwarf or no Red Dwarf at all :(

  • Red Dwarf is one of the funniest and most clever comedies the BBC has been able to string together. Series 1,2 were nothing special (still rather funny though) but then from the 3rd series onwards it was brilliant with every episode hysterical. Series 3,4,5 and 6 were exceptionally hilarious, but then what happened with series 7 and 8? Doug Naylor obviously isn't capable of writing a funny Red Dwarf script without the aid of Rob Grant. 'Smoke me a kipper skipper, I'll b back for breakfast' ;P

  • as i always say, the only reason people don't like series 7 is because of the absence of the best character

  • I only really had a problem with series 8. They broadcast 8 episodes but the first episode was split into three and then there was the "Pete" episode which really didn't deserve to be in two parts, they could have left that for the last one, the whole mirror universe was a nice story that could have been explored more over a two parter.

If I had to pick a fault with series 7, it was the Duct Soup episode, it was easily the worst one IMO with "Blue", Ace Rimmer and the JFK episodes being faves

  • Rob Grant is back with doug naylor atm writing the new series

  • Honestly if Series X is anything like Back to Earth, I'd rather not see it come back at all.

More Heroic and Responsible Lister > Pining For Kochanski Lister. Come on Dave, bros before hoes. Plus she's a lousy smeg, I know. All you really need is your mates and your curry, man.

  • @ShaunsBlogs The thing I have found is that almost all fans hate series 7 - 8, but series 6 is either loved or hated. I think there is definately classic moments but I call it crappy because it lost all the qualities that made series 3 - 5 amazing. It's by no means bad and I respect peoples opinions and although I laughed just as much as previous series I didn't enjoy them as much. The last great thing Rob Grant did.

  • @MrRenegadePhoenix I disagree. I think season 6 was one of the best.

  • Do any of you know what good comedy is? series 1-5 were the funniest things ive ever seen. Especially 1-3!

  • its amazing the least pop douche is the loudest douche

  • Red Dwarf I was alright if a bit tediously boring.

Red Dwarf II was better with the best actual plots.

Red Dwarf III was great, better sets and costumes and some great stories.

Red Dwarf IV was good but not all the episodes are good.

Red Dwarf V was awesome with great writing and character development.

Red Dwarf VI was a bit crap in places but still good.

Red Dwarf VII was totally awful.

Red Dwarf VIII was better but not amazing.

Overall, Series II to V are the best.

  • Red Dwarf Rocks, ALL episodes ROCK!!! Make Series 10-15
