Do you think we should allow DCC to spoil the beautiful reserve?
Would you like to be told you are having this recycling facility next door to your property? The Dawson's this year could it be your turn?
On Wednesday 24th February the Rhuddlan Environment Group held an open meeting, from this meeting residents have vowed to claim back land previously given by DCC.
Support your local nature reserve and this local family.
The land reneged on is now to be used as a highways storing and recycling depot.
all of this land in DCC ownership was originally part of the nature reserve and should be kept as such as was agreed with Denbighshire county council, residents and local groups.
Mr & Mrs Dawson and their four children are for the second time in three years fighting Denbighshire County Council. In 2007 they were threatened with having a Recycling Centre on their doorstep.
Today 26th February Denbighshire County Council have reneged on both agreements and claim they will develop a Storage facility for Highway Materials to be recycled on the land. It is proposed to store and recycle highway materials within metres of their home and adjacent to an education pond on the Rhuddlan Nature Reserve.
These are the facts: In June 2008 and February 26th 2009 DCC made a promise and gave us a 25 year management agreement, which by October 2009 they claimed it was not legally binding. They set up a Local Nature Reserve management group in May 2009, they gave us a plan which included all of the land in DCC ownership. We joined the LNR group and we did not at any time agree to this facility, if a meeting took place to agree it, they did not invite us. On the 26th of February 2010 DCC informed us via email that they have retained the south end of the nature reserve site for "A Highways Recycling facility" they will store highway materials, like road chippings, soil and other materials which are suitable for recycling. They claim it saves money, saves landfill(and landfill tax) they claim they have no room for this facility at Bodelwyddan, we claim they do have plenty of room at the facility just off the Abergele Road which is run by Conwy County Council, Mr Stuart Davies is the Highways manager for Denbighshire County Council and Conwy. Surly DCC could make joint use of this site to save spoiling the reserve which is having thousands of pounds of tax payers money poured into it? We have always been positive about the Nature Reserve that is why we campaigned to save the site.
