http://karlverkade.bandcamp.com ... Terrible, I know, but I gotta promote some ambient music I do. I'd appreciate any support...even though no tubescreamers were used in the making of the album. ;-)

Test of a new Ibanez TS9 (all stock) against an Analogman-modded TS9 and a Keeley-modded TS9 to demonstrate if the mods really make a tonal difference.

  • With so many pedal options out there, modding is almost pointless.

  • @mr4y Ya, there's a ton of pedals out there...we live in a good time. haha That being said though, if someone likes the sound of a modded pedal, I think it's cool that those are out there as well. :-)

  • Is it just me or is there a slight hint of tremolo effect in the keeley mod?

  • @onlyprnasneeded Maybe...could just be the sound waves hitting the mic. I'll listen again.

  • Sound good is it me or does the stock ts9 sound better than the analog man ts9? Keeley sounded best but not as a main distortion. I only like the ts9 on top of my tube amp for extra volume in solos

  • @Whoelsewoulddie4u Ya, the Keeley is great for solos. :-)

  • Great video. But my only question is why is there a "breast flexing" video in the related vids?

  • The stock one sounds cleanest--before watching this I was considering ordering a mod; thanks for saving me the cabbage, dude!

  • To me the mods just seem to add extra gain, killing the way the ts9 is supposed to sound in the first place. Just get a pedal that has more gain, you dont have to buy a modded ts9 to do that do you? Of course the true bypass is a nice touch.

  • @mr4y I think modding makes a lot of sense regarding the sound to price issues with a lot of pedals. For example, you can make a 40 buck TS7 into a 180 dollar TS808 by changing 2 resistors.

  • I could just listen to that clean tone all day

  • It appears to me the Keely sounds better because it has a higher output. Much of the issue is true bypass and whether you want slight increments of OD or heaps more. The Keely sold me simply because it is true bypass. No true bypass = no sale. Your clean still needs to be pure to maintain sonic flexibility. That's how I view the issue of OD pedals.

  • Great demo! Call me crazy but I like the keeley the least.

  • Hi.

Wich of these 3 would you recommend for rythm guitar?

I'm looking for some Oasis sound, but I am not good enough for doing solos :(

    Thanks for your answer :)

    Ps: I have an Epi ES-355 ...

  • Good job man on your demo. Most people that try to make a shoot out video have no concept of tone and therefore they don't mic correctly and don't let the guitar ring out for best comparison and over all have just the worst sound coming out of there amp so the video becomes pointless.Good job on all these points. It's obvious that you are an accomplished guitarist.Thx for the demo so we can make up our minds on choice of a pedal.

  • it may just be me, but i personally think the mods ruin a pedal that already doesn't sound great to begin with. I see you've got a tim on your board, for the price of any of these modded pedals, paul cochrane will gladly build you a pedal that blows all of these out of the water haha.
