@DrumEnforcer it's called vocalese, dude.. people have been putting lyrics to classic charts for ages...
-
The vocalists are actually better than the horns. That simply never happens!

I have this in my bookmarks as Highschoolers Try Sing Sing Sing. Maybe they are not Highschoolers but whoever they are...they are excellent, no--outrageous!! The male singers are really fine but the women are exciting. This cannot be high school! This is even above the college level. Sorry for the piano player-he was wonderful but I could not take my eyes off the singers.
Thank You From Seattle!!

@DrumEnforcer The original way is with lyrics. The big band version is only a cover of the original by Benny Goodman's orchestra.

This song shouldn't have lyrics. It's perfectly fine the original way.

It sounds great.
Especially the soprano, alto, tenor, bass, band, and piano. GREAT JOB GUYS!

amazing! we're learning this in our class choir :)

I actually had to ask everyone individually (noone was forced). Performing on recitals/juries at Grant Mac are basically on a volunteer basis, but it gives everyone a chance to be part of a pretty big thing. Very cool, very fun.

Haha, thanks. Appreciate the compliment. =) (the tenor is me) Having read your other comments, you'll be interested to know that quite a few Grant MacEwan grads (so I hear) go to Berklee College as part of a transfer program of sorts. I know of a couple personally, at any rate. =) Glad you liked the song.
so everyone had to learn that song just for the piano players jury? i have never seen that before.

It's really fun actually! I went through the program as well - Our final recital is graded on a bunch of things, one of them being how we play with bands. (We have to do trios/quartets/duets/solos...a bunch of requirements)

it was the piano player's (Brett) final recital from our college, Grant MacEwan.

wow, this is awesome, what a great sound!! where do you get New York voice arrangements?
gfunk449 3 years ago
Our director usually gets music from Music Stuff Plus (in Ontario)
You can probably just google New York Voices arrangements though and find sites to buy them! If that doesn't work out, just try contacting Darmon Meader (from NYV) he could point you in the right direction (he writes most of their arrangements)
