These and other protests which have taken place (by Chinese and foreigners) ought to show China that they cannot stifle dissent even when they devote immense security resources to that purpose.
They need to address human rights issues and begin real dialogue over Tibet and Xinjiang and other areas which do not wish to be governed by China's CCP.
It seems inevitable that things will get worse for all protesters when the world's attention has turned away from China after the Olympics.

Did they get tortured? killed? No...they just enjoy a free flight ticket back to home.
Well, they should be sent to Tibet to work for Tibetan farmers for some time, such that they can really "free Tibet".

sqito...I respect that you have a different opinion but of course the point of the banner was to gain publicity and awareness of Chinas invasion of Tibet, at a time when China is in the public eye...which was successful. I agree the same thing would apply in Washington or London but, we can get a permit and peacefully demonstrate...that possibilty dosent exist in China! So who has most freedom of speech ?
