  • What did you do for electricity and toilet? beautiful video Thanks

  • Our electricity was limited, as I could cook on one burner, but we couldn't watch tv and the lights would dim. When possible I would cook outside. Our only refridgerator was in our RV. We could not run any electric heat.

As for the toilet, we used a saw-dust bucket. You can read the book, Humanure.

  • Victory gardens, also called war gardens or food gardens for defense, were vegetable, fruit and herb gardens planted at private residences in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom during World War I and World War II to reduce the pressure on the public food supply brought on by the war effort.

  • Yes, I am aware of this. Thanks for sharing this though.

  • I enjoyed this. Not many people are willing to live like this anymore.

  • No people aren't willing to live like this. And I now know why! It is very difficult. But also very enriching. We no longer live in our cabin and we have running water and elctricity, but we have come away from that experience 1) VERY grateful for water and power, 2) very grateful for each other 3) with a great desire to live simply, avoid instant gratification and learn more about growing food.

  • Now that's how we all should be living!Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

  • i am sure life will get better as the years go by and when you deem what is important. i to think this is the way to go. the garden will get more productive and easier as permenant bed are made and the importance of mulching beome apparent. lots of low tech things are out there, mother earth magazine, solar ovens, putting up jarred food. its really great that the kids will have lots of good things to do. living of grid can be a good thing, nothing really goes to waste, in your own space. aloha
