That's Patrick Gillis and he's not showboating: he's got deep heart and soul. The recording doesn't do him justice, but he plays right in the pocket. And Cape Breton musicians don't treat other musicians as "just sidemen." They are very generous and refreshingly non-egotistical. They are keepers of a living tradition.
Andrea, Andrea you are such a gem.You played 12 mins straight and didnt crack a sweat.Just effortless and never missing a note.And a great backing band.You would have to be a grade A douche bag to dislike this but i see there are two listed above.This should be mandatory listening for every traditional music lover-no, not you two butt smears.

Okay so this is what I found out about that first strathspey:
It is known as Christy Campbell Strathspey and The Miller of Drone.
It would be much simpler if I could just go up there and ask! ;)
