A first attempt with my Blackberry simply attached to the machine for a drivers eye view, to show the Kubota KX080 working on an existing ditch being cleared to create wildlife habitat on a wetland site for Cheshire Wildlife Trust.

The site was extremely wet and mats are being used for additional safety and to allow all the performance of the machine to be used.

The idea is to create a deeper channel at the back edge, then a wide gently sloping shelf under the water and finally a nice gentle bank up to the fence line.

The spoil is always difficult to deal with being full of reeds, but with patience a finish can be achieved that will quickly blend with the site.

The benefits of thr Engcon system can clearly be seen, as the machine does not have to keep repositioning itself.

Sorry for the slight delay at the start but i had to walk around the machine before i could get started!

  • Wellydown,I don't know who you imply by 'These People' but as you can clearly see this video is posted by my own company Moorlands Specialist Excavations.

We are a specialist contractor working on sensitive sites and invest heavily in the latest technology to ensure minimal impact and maximum benefit to sites.

I don't know how I've approved the destruction of 90% of Cheshires heathland or who has membership with me?

I suggest you get your comments removed and go and bark up the right tree?

  • Very interesting, I've never seen a rotating head used for this kind of work, usually only tilt for getting the correct gradients, or simply putting the bade down at an angle to do it.

Now comes the question, have you ever fallen off your matt? A contractor I used to work with said that the Kx080 was seriously underpowered when it came to unbogging itself (In the Highlands).

I also live on a SSSI Peatbog, but we do things slightly less high-tech!

Keep up the vids, very informative :)
